The Artist in You - "Let's Celebrate the Holidays" with Sue Olsen - 2 Day Class
Join Sue Olsen and create your own Holiday One-of-A-Kind piece of fabric art. It can be in the form of a 24 x 24 inch pillow or you might want to make a quilted holiday wall-hanging. Get into the Holiday spirit early. See what your "holiday spirit" puts you in the mood for. Maybe a favorite Thanksgiving or Christmas memory? You can use ...a favorite dog/cat/pet and put them into a holiday setting. Maybe you have several items that remind you of past holidays...combine them into one wonderful holiday image. How about a past Thanksgiving card or a favorite Christmas card??? For those of you who just want to create a favorite photo image... that is okay too.

Instructor Bio: | My name is Sue Olsen, and I am a fabric artist. I split my time between two amazing states. We winter in Green Valley, Arizona and summer in Bozeman, Montana. While these are very different landscapes, they are both very beautiful places.I was born in South Haven, Michigan, and grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan. I graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in art education and taught art to high school students for several years. I love teaching. My husband is a retired FBI special agent, so we moved several times, many places. One transfer took us to Reno, Nevada. I took a part-time job in Reno, at Windy Moon Quilts. I soon traded my passion for watercolor painting for fabric. I knew nothing about quilting but fell in love with all the colorful fabrics and the people who worked there. It soon became apparent that I would not be a traditional quilter. I was already ?coloring? outside the lines of the traditional quilting world.Soon, Dog Gone Quilts was born, and I began designing my unique patterns. To date, I have 265 dog and cat patterns and 110 holiday and events patterns. I taught that pattern line for years to guilds, quilt stores and at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. I also was a vendor on the convention floor for years.I have now developed a new quilting technique and teach it in a class called The Artist in You. I am currently teaching this class at Quilt Central Studios here in Green Valley, and in Bozeman Montana. In this class, you bring me a photo or favorite image, and I show you how to draw it imperfectly by hand. That drawing becomes your quilt pattern, and following step-by-step instructions, you will create a one-of-a-kind piece of fabric art rich in colors, texture and love. So, if you are ready to step out and begin designing your own quilt images, this class is for you. |
