Bargello with Jane - 1 day class

Beginning Bargello Quilt

From my research I found that the Bargello quilt designs originated from the needlepoint embroidery consisting of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create different motifs. The name originates from a series of chairs found in the Bargello palace in Florence, Italy which have a flame stitch pattern. I learned the needlepoint technique from my Grandma and I’m happy that the design idea transitioned into the world of quilts.

During this class you’ll learn how easy it is to make a beautiful Bargello Quilt.

In this introduction to Bargello class I’ll share tips to make the technique easy to understand and fun. I’ve selected the Assisi Quilt design from the book “Jelly Roll Bargello Quilts” to make in the class. This is a fun design that can be made into a quilt or Tote.

I’ll also introduce you to some next level ideas, so that if you fall in love the quilt design, you’ll be able to go to the next level and maybe even create your own designs.

Instructor Bio: Jane Rosenbush I'm so happy to join the team of instructors at Quilt Central Studio. I've been sewing since I was a teenager and began quilting about 20 years ago. I started out slowly, making a wreath wall hanging and then took a block of a month class at a local quilt shop, made my first quilt top. I had a very busy career, working for a large tech company in Northern California, so was only able to quilt now and then. After taking an early retirement about eight years ago, I've been more creative than ever, and fully embraced my love of being a quilt maker. I started my own business, called Rose Bush Quilts and have been teaching classes in Northern California, designing my own quilts and became a Certified Instructor for the set of tools created by Deb Tucker of Studio 180 Design. I've come to Southern Arizona for several months a year for the last 15 years, visiting family. Since 2020 and the COVID crisis, I decided to relocate permanently and have been very happy with that decision. I look forward to meeting some of you in my classes where the main focus will be to share knowledge, learn and mostly importantly, have fun.
