Learn the techniques and tips of appliqué with fiber artist Arlene Walsh in this beginning appliqué class where you will work on southwest pots to create your one-of-a-kind piece of art. From selecting colors & fabric, to fusing, stitching and embellishment, Arlene is a master and excellent instructor! A great beginner project, this southwest turned edge applique features three pots, a fused Kokopelli, bias work, and special buttons. Explore the fascinating world of cyanotype in our Cyanotype Class, where participants will learn the fundamentals of this historic photographic printing process. Cyanotype artwork is created by treating a surface, typically paper or fabric, with a photosensitive solution of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. When the treated surface is exposed to ultraviolet light, such as sunlight, and then washed in water, a cyan-blue image emerges. This process can capture intricate details and produce stunning, ethereal images. This hands-on class will guide you through the steps to create stunning blue and white prints using sunlight and photosensitive chemicals. This class is perfect for artists, photographers, and anyone interested in exploring a unique and creative printing process. By the end of the session, participants will have created their own beautiful cyanotype prints and gained the knowledge to continue experimenting with this versatile medium.

The beautiful Arizona Saguaro is a symbol of the Sonoran Desert and now you can enjoy one in your own home. This is a fun design that allows each maker easy ways to make their wall-hanging unique. During session one we will concentrate on building the basic blocks used in the quilt - Flying Geese and the V Block (also know as Peaky & Spike or Triangle in a Square). The instructor will also demonstrate the simple technique to create 'made fabric', using scraps to create a base fabric for quilt blocks. During session two we will build the wall-hanging from the blocks made in session one, along with any additional blocks you need to finish. We will also discuss different ideas for quilting and binding - including a demonstration of how to create the Invisible Binding used for one of the samples in the shop.

Discover a more efficient method of quilt making. This Keys to Quilt Mastery session will introduce you to chain piecing. Chain piecing allows you to quickly sew like pieces together. This method is fundamentally feeding units through the sewing machine without the usual stop to cut threads and placing the unit in its pile. Then start the sewing all over again.
